How not to run a business
My son just finished the HSC on Friday.
His formal is tomorrow week. We’ve already paid for the ticket.
Sunday afternoon at 5pm we receive a rude SMS with no warning. It’s too long for one message, so it arrives in reverse order, so the first thing we see is:
‘package. Everyone must bring in thr $40 tmrw and hand it in to the office. Or your event may be cancelled. no refund givn’
Assuming it’s a spam SMS, I Google the phone number in case it’s a high-charge number gambling on people calling it for an explanation. Two minutes later the first part of the SMS arrives, and we discover it’s from yourformal.com. Apparently the number of attendees is low and they are unable to confirm a venue.
How rude is it to contact people this way? What kind of business plan don’t they have?
It’s almost blackmail. Do this or else we keep your money.
My initial reaction is to spread the word about the poor customer service. And the second is to contact the school and recommend that they not use the company in the future. And the third is, what an opportunity for a company with manners to take advantage of.
I check with my son, and others are already dis(cus)sing it on Facebook. Good on them.

Guessing your son is from one of those?
